Message from Hungry Valley this evening...

Hi Jim, It snowed several inches in Gorman, so parts of the park will have even more snow. Some trails are closed, but still lots of trails to ride. Many hazards due to the weather, so be careful out there!

    Should be a great day!

Also, for those not familiar with Hungry Valley, here is a map of the SVRA.

Hahaha...I have a call into Hungry Valley and will post up tomorrow.  Weather report should be a bit chilly but sunny.  I expect some mud from snowmelt and probably some snow in the shadow areas.  They shut the Grapevine again today for awhile I heard.

I wonder what the snow depth will be be like? Any ideas. Hungry Valley is 3000 feet minimum and so maybe snowy. Anyone know if California plows the main roads in the OHV areas? Bring x Country skis maybe.

Any reason not to use the South Entrance?

The South Entrance works fine.  In the past, there were entrance passes waiting, but since everyone is paying their own admission, either entrance should work.

    Hi Paul,

Traditionally we haven’t cancelled events due to weather in the past. However, I understand your concern and we will monitor things this week.  Right now, the NWS is calling for a sunny and cool day up there. National Weather Service Link

Yep, it could be a bit muddy, but in a controlled area like that it gives more opportunities to improve our off-road skills.

I'm kind of on the fence right now on this one, and wondering what others are thinking?

As of today (Monday 2/18) there is a 50-75% chance of showers and/or snow on Wed/Thurs. Friday/Sat should be sunny with overnight night lows of 29F, Sat high of 44F (Forecast is for Lebec, CA, similar altitude and about 7 mi north).

Personally not worried about the cold but could turn into a mud bog. Snow could be fun but I hate it when it's a slushy mess. Any guesses as to how this will turn out?
