Land Ops - The Off Road, Navigation and Amateur Radio Search Club
I hope everyone is getting ready for the Anza Borrego Op! This should be a fun event with plenty of interesting things to see like pictographs, the mud caves and plenty of slot canyons to explore. The campsite offers primitive camping meaning no water, no trash service and a single pit toilet. Bring everything and practice pack it in pack it out. The campsites are free and first come first serve and can accommodate medium sized RV's and of course tents. There is also dispersed camping in the area if the campground gets full. There are no gas stations nearby so I recommend bringing at least 5 gallons of gas as a reserve. The temps are cooling off with daytime highs in the mid seventies but expect nighttime lows to be in the low to mid forties. Campfires are allowed in the established fire rings or you must have a fire pit that is raised off the ground. In either case you need a CA wildfire permit which you can obtain for free here.
