Land Ops - The Off Road, Navigation and Amateur Radio Search Club
Although we had a small group of about 8 vehicles, we had a wonderful time at Monache Meadow for our latest OP. Troy Meadow Campground was only about 50% full, making our camp very pleasant. Due to the small number of vehicles, we made the trip into the meadow a recon, traveling to the farthest northern place along the river to have lunch. The trip out was busy, but all made it well.
We took an alternative trail down to Jackass Meadow, and encountered a tree that fell overnight blocking the trail. A couple of straps and we cleared the trail again and we all headed back down the hill.
Later that day we tried radio contact with Tim AG6RS on 20 and 40 meters and we could hear him, but he could not hear us.
Despite the long drive there and back, this is a special bucket-list destination.
