I would like information on the hardware the landops group is using?
I have been playing around with the WRT54 and have linked several nodes around my QTH

My experience is that unless you have a tall tower or hill to mount an external antenna, a Linksys node will only have a range of a mile or two.
In the type of terrain we find on most of our ops, interference is usually not a problem so I use a Ubiquity Bullet M2 with an Omni antenna for distances up to five miles, a Ubiquity Nanostation M2 for distances of up to 10 miles, and a Ubiquity NanoBridge M5 for longer distances. A tall mast is essential to get the signal clear of the fresnel zone; I use Harbor Freight telescoping flagpoles as a mast.
When operating in a noisy environment, such as downtown LA, I use Ubiquity Nanostation M5 and Nanobridge M5 nodes. Because of the noise, an omni antenna is of limited use and the 5GHz band has less noise than the 2GHz band.
I use a Foscam webcam and Grandstream VOIP ATA. I don’t know much about Raspberry Pi but I hope to learn how to program it to host a Meshchat server.

I have a 25 foot Rohn tower with a az el rotor I put a 15 element yagiwas not able to hear any one. I keep kicking myself as I had decommissioned a 2.5 gig microwave link at work and basically threw away six andrew 6 foot dishes and the electronics the amplifiers were 10 watts
Anyway I will get a Ubiquicy nano bridge and see what it can do
I believe there is a node on Pleasants Peak there is nothing around me in Claremont there is a station in Ranchio Cucamonga but dont know if its active

Russ, Congratulations on the successful Mesh Network setup with the three nodes you setup at Quartzfest.
It was great having the teams call each other as well as net control through the mesh.
I second Chris' thoughts about the Mesh at Quartzite. In the past, we have struggled with establishing communications, but the system worked really well and things went very smoothly for the operators using the phone system. Bravo Russ (and Greg, too for setting up the other node)!
