After looking at the prices of Teardrop trailers I decided to build my own. It is not perfect but it is working really well for me. I just looked at some pictures on the internet and started building.

Rick this is a great series of progressive build photos. Nice job. It was great seeing your trailer in action last outing.

Looks real good Rick. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person and getting you list of "wish I'd done this instead's". I have a similar build in mind also.

Did you use a Harbor Freight 4x8 trailer as a base?

Yes, I started with a Harbor Freight 4x8 trailer mainly because they provide a certificate of origin and it was then easy to register as a "utility trailer".

Then I sold the axle, springs and wheels on Craig's List and replaced with a much better suspension and wheels.

I also ran a 2x2x.125tube down the middle for extra strength. It bent at the hitch on the first trip and also hit the axle so I replaced with a 1/4" 2x2 tube and stopped it just short of the axle.
