There are two Ops Planned for this event!



THURSDAY,  OCTOBER 31, 2024

  • Early arrivals hold base camp area.  Thursday arrival is not necessary.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2024

  • Afternoon arrivals by setup team
  • Early arriving participants and guests setup their camps.
  • Route assessments
  • Campfires and comradery abound into the evening-NOTE THAT FIRE RESTRICTIONS ARE IN PLACE. NO GROUND FIRES-ALL FIRES IN METAL FIRE PITS ABOVE GROUND.
  • This is primitive camping.  Please provide for personal hygiene, water, etc.  Exact camp location to be determined.
  • Members and participants skilled in night navigation arrive throughout the evening

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2024 
09:00 AM Op Start  
Op will start at 09:00 AM to allow time for recon exploration trip to Mud Caves.  Please be ready for Orientation by 08:30 AM.

03:00 PM Recon Op Return

03:00-06:00 Dinner

06:00 PM Night Nav Comm Op Begins

08:00 PM Return to Camp

COMMUNICATIONS

Vehicle Communications

Vehicle to vehicle comms will be 2-meter for hams and/or FRS for non-hams.  Vehicle to Vehicle to be announced at Orientation.
2-meter primary frequency = 145.555 MHz
FRS = channel 1 (no privacy code)

Secondary communication on Mt Laguna (SANDRA) repeater 147.150, +600khz, PL 107.2

Net Control Communications

  • VHF/UHF - Vehicles will communicate with net control on 2 meter and/or UHF depending upon crossband repeater setups.
  • HF – nets will be based on available operators
  • APRS – turn it on if you have it for shared awareness

Fuel

  • The closest fuel is in Julian, CA, about 30 minutes away.  Best bet is to fuel up in either Pala off Hwy76 or at the La Jolla Indian Camp off Hwy 76.  If coming from the north, Warner Springs has fuel as well.
  • Recommended to bring extra fuel as a precaution.
