DEVELOP RADIO SKILLS
Ham radio operators may volunteer to support this race at various stages. If you haven't done this yet it is a great way to learn and develop your radio skills no matter what level you are.  Many of the locations require 4x4 or high clearance vehicles.

At some stations you can set up, take a chair and report to net control to maintain safety and control of the race event. 

If you don't have all the gear like you see in the photo above..no problem. You will be assigned to help a station where you may be using a setup like this or simply a handy talkie.
