Jon and I were bummed we missed this one also! A few weeks after the Hungry Valley Op, we proceeded to break the Jeep, big time. Driveshafts, and u-joints, and transfer cases, oh my.

The Jeep is all fixed up now, so hopefully we’ll be able to make it out to the Cuddeback Op. Jon is really exited at all the ham stuff you have planned. The Jeep being out of commission wasn't all bad, during the down time we both tested up to our General licenses!

Sorry to hear about the Jeep problems but congratulations on passing the General Test!

Was totally bummed to have missed this one, especially after making it most of the way out there.  Everything was fine until Jim and I stopped for gas just South of Olancha (I think).

My starter failed and took a bit of convincing before I was able to get running again.  I didn't want to hold the group up out in the sticks, so just beat feat back home (went straight to the shop that installed the starter two days prior).  They put in a brand new one the next day, so hopefully we'll be ready for the next show.  It sounds like the weekend for Cuddeback is set, which is the same weekend I'll be in AZ .

Glad you all had fun, really enjoyed the pics...can't wait to see the video.

    Chris,

Thanks for putting together a great outing.

I learned a lot and had a great time plus got to try out a vehicle that could use some modifications to make it better for these outings.

Here is a link to some PDF maps of the area from CalTopo.  Each page is 11x17 for printing to scale.  It's also a pretty large file at 17mb.

Better to use 145.525 for now.  There is an uncoordinated repeater using 145.555 in the Inland Empire and the users are chatterboxes.  145.525 will be the primary simplex for the DV Op.

    Jim, Copy that.  Thanks.

Also, I thought I saw a post from Chris or someone saying to include certain areas in the maps, but now I can't find that information.  I'm I losing my last marble?  Or was that posted someplace else?

I'll post a link to some maps I downloaded with complete ops area in a bit.
